A Fruta do Lobo

Inspired by the Brazilian maned wolf. These wonderful animals are sadly killed for various reasons, one of them being that they are mistakenly accused of hunting chickens, while the maned wolf is actually mostly vegetarian. A large fraction of its diet (over 50%, according to some studies) is vegetable matter, including sugarcane, tubers, and fruit (especially the wolf apple (A tomato-like food) (Solanum lycocarpum)). The fruit in his mouth is called the 'wolf fruit' because most of their diet is consisted by the delicacy. 

It's a real treat for Wolves to eat the tall grasses... What would happen if wolves could subsist on a predominantly vegetarian diet, like bears? Then would wolf torture and execution in the hands of hunters go on?
